The
proposals
There is a need to modernise Penarth Fire Station. The requirements of the Service have changed since the building was originally designed, and the facilities are currently unable to effectively support the team and their essential service.
Significant work is required to upgrade the facility into a modern, fit-for-purpose Fire Station that focuses on operational needs.
The proposals would expand and enhance the existing station by adding an additional 830sqm to the floorspace, spread over two floors.

The expanded Fire Station would include:
Dorms
Office spaces
Training spaces and areas that are not currently offered, such as a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) compound
A gym
Kitchen and a dining space
The training tower
The current training tower is no longer fit for purpose and doesn’t cater for current training needs. A replacement tower is therefore proposed, which would be 11 metres in height – this would be lower than the existing tower which is 15 metres tall.
